But here’s the problem:

Not everyone has access to high speed internet. In fact, many rural areas lack even basic internet service.

How you can get fast internet in the middle of nowhere

How you can get fast internet in the middle of nowhere

You can get fast internet in the middle of nowhere through various means including a satellite connection, broadband, or even through Starlink. It will depend on the area that you’re in and what is currently available. However, it is possible to get fast Internet speeds even if you live in the middle of nowhere.

Your options for traditional internet service provider may be limited. But that doesn’t mean you should give up hope. Choosing the right one will depend on your personal needs and preferences.

It will also depend on the devices you intend to use on a regular basis including a cell phone. Even though getting fast Internet even at broadband speeds is one of the biggest challenges even today. Here are some suggestions that we encourage you to check out:

Satellite Service

Satellite Service

Satellite Internet may be great for those who may not have phone lines or have unreliable phone service. HughesNet and Wild Blue are two of the best satellite internet providers that you may need to consider. Satellite internet will require links and a satellite dish installed by a professional. As for the speed itself, it is faster than dialup.

There is also Starlink, the brainchild of Elon Musk. So far, there are four percent of satellites in orbit that are all part of the Starlink network. It may even prove to be one of the best options, even though it still needs a satellite dish.

However, compared to everything else, it’s considered one of the slowest options out there. Although we have mentioned a couple of satellite internet providers, you can still be able to find an alternative to satellite internet (assuming it’s available). There are rural internet services that may be spread throughout your region.

DSL

DSL

DSL or a digital subscriber line may be a better alternative to satellite internet. Most rural internet providers will provide DSL as one of its best options because of its reliable connection. This is done via a phone provider and may be the best option for high-speed internet.

This is where you will have reliable phone lines, but cable services will be little to non-existent. As far as the speed is concerned, it’s not as fast as cable internet.

But it’s still faster than old-school dial-up and for many situations, it’s a great option.

You may even be able to use a wireless internet connection if you choose to purchase a Wi-Fi Router. however, this may not be the case depending on the rural internet service provider. You’ll also need to take a look at the prices of different packages to make sure it’s worth what you would spend on it if your employer isn’t reimbursing your for your internet service.

The higher the download speeds are, the higher the price may be. You may have the money for expensive options and it may depend on your personal needs.

3G Internet

3G Internet

3G stands for third generation of cellular networks. Most of your smart phones will be able to support this (even though they have the technology to support 5G). These will be provided by a cell tower.

Yes, it can run off the same cell tower that is connected to your current cell service. Yes, it can offer you high speed Internet in the middle of nowhere, surprisingly enough. However there’s a catch.

You will need a wireless device such as a cell phone, a tablet, or even a netbook. If it has 3G capabilities, you can be sure that your local wireless providers can offer 3G Internet to those who may be living so far away from civilization.

What kind of plans will there be?

That will depend on the service provider.

One of the things I did was sign up for Onstar’s unlimited WiFi service so I’ve got strong, fast internet service in my truck. Virtually anywhere I can get a cell signal I’ve got high speed internet and it makes working while moving around so much easier.

Or you can use a personal hotspot type service that would be similar by connecting to the internet through your mobile phone.

Another option that I’ve used is to have a portable dedicated 3G or 4G wireless internet device like an AT&T MiFi device like Netgear’s Nighthawk M1 router which I’ve personally used and is a fantastic option.

You can choose an unlimited data use plan which can be used as your primary Internet connection of there are not other options.

You may also be provided with a personal hotspot, which will allow you to get Internet access no matter where you go. So if you are in a place where you may have no WiFi, a hotspot might be exactly what you need.

It may also be useful on mobile phones, netbooks, and tablets. It won’t be useful on personal computers, which will need a wired connection.

If you can rely on wireless devices, 3G may be the connection type that you’ll be happy with when you live in the middle of nowhere.  If you live close to cell phone towers, you may be in the best position to get 3G internet access.

How do mountains get Internet?

How do mountains get Internet?

DSL and even high-speed cable connection (where available) are both viable options if you live in a mountainous area of the United States. Again, this will depend on the area that you live in and the option of rural Internet options you may have. If you prefer a wired connection, both are good to have.

You may have enough infrastructure to avoid having to deal with satellite providers (since you may be a little bit closer to civilization. You’d be surprised by the options for access to internet services being available in mountainous areas. Even ski resorts in mountainous areas will have Wi-Fi towers installed in the mountains.

That’s because there is a lot of hardware that can withstand even the most extreme weather conditions. And rural internet access can be useful due to this hardware. If they are close enough and able to use it for Internet service, your options for a high speed internet connection will be more than just living in a wooded area and away from civilization itself.

How fast should my WiFi be?

How fast should my WiFi be?

On average, your typical speed should run between 50 to 100 Mbps. This should be enough to cover some of the frequently used services such as checking email, video streaming, and more. Your Wi-Fi connection may be boosted depending on the number of devices you intend to use and even your personal needs.

You may have a Wi-Fi connection that may be enough for the basics, but may not meet the demands for online gaming. For this reason, you may want to consider an upgrade that will match the gaming devices you use and the speeds that it needs to meet the demands.

Whether you play casual games or online multiplayer games, it’s important to consider your options. You can choose packages that are in different pricing ranges. Once again, it will also depend on your Internet Service Provider.

If you live in a rural area, your options may depend on the proximity of how far you live from the next major town or city. You may want to choose the best speed package depending on your budget. It is possible to find reasonable pricing on your Internet options whether you live in the city, in a smaller town, or in a rural area.

Why is my WiFi so slow?

Why is my WiFi so slow?

Your Wi-Fi may be slow due to several factors including interference from other networks and even old devices. At the same time, you may have a WiFi extender that may be obstructed by objects that are surrounding it. There are a few ways that you can fix it.

The most common method is to reset your router and modem. You’ll need to disconnect the power cables and wait for 30 seconds before reconnecting them. Another reason why your WiFi may be slow could be due to an app that may be intentionally making it that way.

Aside from those two solutions, we can also offer you the following alternative solutions:

  • Ping test
  • Adjusting the router or placing it in a different outlet closer to your devices
  • Changing the WiFi channel
  • Allow some devices to ‘forget’ the WiFi connection.
  • Disable your VPN (if you are using one)

These are just a few common reasons why your WiFi may be slower than normal. As a last resort, you may need to consider upgrading your package. Again, you may have the WiFi speed to perform various tasks but it may not be fast enough to meet the demands of casual gamers or even competitive gamers.

You may be able to check emails but video calls may be a challenge. Streaming videos may also be a problem because of the quality (pixelating rather than a clear picture). Depending on the type of content you want to use, either you may have the speed to support it or you may not.

That’s why it is important to determine whether or not if upgrading a WiFi package to something much faster is in the cards.

How can I get Wi-Fi without a provider?

How can I get Wi-Fi without a provider?

One of the best ways to get Wi-Fi without a provider is by purchasing a mobile hotspot. This will use the same connection as if you were using a mobile phone. You can also tether your tablet or smartphone so you can use the mobile data from that device as your source for Internet.

If there is public Wi-Fi networks near you, take advantage of them. The speed may be fast, but it can also depend on the service plan that place of business may have. Your local coffee shop may have faster Internet than your local library.

However, there may be no guarantees as to which public place will have the fastest possible WiFi connection.

Who are the best rural internet providers?

Who are the best rural internet providers?

Of many providers, Comcast Xfinity is one of the highest rated on the list. That’s because they offer it at a great price and have excellent speed options. This is key when it comes to finding rural internet services.

However, some of the cons of having Comcast Xfinity is that you’ll have an annual contract to contend with. Before signing contracts with an internet provider, you’ll want to take a look at the terms and conditions. This also includes how long the contract will take affect.

Some providers will provide a 24-month contract while others may be slightly less. You also need to pay attention to key things such as the termination fee that you may need to pay in case you don’t need the service. You may need to pay the final bill amount on top of that fee.

On top of that, the availability may be limited depending on where you are in the country.

Another on the list to check out for Broadband is Rise Broadband. This has packages ranging from $35 to $60 a month, while providing you anywhere from 25 to 50 Mbps of download speeds. If you are looking for high-quality rural internet service providers that will give you an affordable plan, you may want to consider Rise Broadband as one of your best options (if it’s available).

If mobile internet is something you’re interested in, our best choice is T-Mobile Home internet Service. At the flat rate of $50 a month, T-Mobile Home Internet Service will give you anywhere from 25 to 100 Mbps of download speeds.

This will be great for those who intend to use their wireless devices such as mobile phones, tablets, and netbooks. You get a reliable wireless network using cellular towers that will give you coverage almost nationwide.

Keep in mind that these are just a few suggestions. You may not have these services available in your area. You may also have other providers that may provide faster speeds. Whether it’s 200mbps download speed that you want or something else, it may be available to you.

Lastly, if satellite-based internet is something you intend to use, Viasat, HughesNet, and Starlink are your best options. While it may not be the best option compared to other types of Internet, you may find that it may provide you with good enough highspeed internet access.

Rural internet users will have options depending their geography. So it will differ from one location to another. If you can find a package with faster speeds, the better. You may need something for online gaming, video streaming, or whatever tasks you intend to perform on a regular basis.

Reliable internet service is another thing that should be as important as speed. While it should be up at all times, it should also be working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Sometimes, the signal may drop for no reason at all.

This can also be a common issue for most wireless internet service providers regardless of where they live. That’s why it is important to check the reviews to make sure you make the right choice for highspeed internet access.

Who are the best rural options for online gaming?

Who are the best rural options for online gaming?

Rise Broadband (available in most of the midwestern United States) and Viasat are two of the best when it comes to online gaming. Plenty of people who play online multiplayer games or casual games will need speed that will be enough to handle the game’s graphic, visual, and audio demands.

Competitive gaming requires a service plan that will handle that. If Rise Broadband is not available in your area, you may want to choose Viasat or any alternative options (where available). The prices for any per month agreement may vary from one provider to another.

Don’t forget, you may also be paying a certain amount per month with taxes included.
