How Home Office Hacks helps
The content that I create for Home Office Hacks breaks down in to three main categories: guidance on careers and jobs you can do working from home and on the WFH life, gear you need to have to be successful working from home, and informational content answering questions that pop up in relation to all these areas.
The gear related round-ups I create aim to give you an overview of the best options that solve problems in specific situations (like what's the best desk for dual monitors or the best ergonomic chairs for your home office). To create these articles I do extensive research and test as many different options as I can and combine that with my own personal experience as someone who's worked from home, working and living in a dedicated home office for more than a decade. My goal is to do the research and give you the best options at a variety of different price points so you can find the best option for you in your situation.
So many people were new to the idea of working from home or working remotely when the quarantine hit and as a result there were tons of questions that started to pop up. And even though working remotely is (at least in my opinion) the best option anyway, it's not without it's challenges and struggles, so I started to create content addressing those challenges like how to deal with cabin fever when you're working from home and how managers can support their remote teams. These are all challenges I've had to deal with personally as someone working and leading a team from home and I wanted to share the tips and tools I've learned to help others in those situations overcome those challenges quickly and successfully.
The gear that I recommend comes as a result of in-depth research, analysis and my own personal experience using these things in the home office, or remote work context. Working from a home office is a lot different than commuting to the office and it comes with unique needs and questions, especially when it comes to the gear you use. Everything that I talk about, like which mechanical keyboard switches are best (I'm currently using a Keychron K10 with Gateron G Pro Red switches), what should you look for in a standing desk, or what accessories you need for a standing desk, are a result of all those factors so that you have the best possible information available to you so you can make your work from home office, or gaming room, the best it can possibly be.

My working from home story
Hi, my name is Rob and by day I work from my home office as a web designer and developer, and a creator by night.
Or something like that.
I'm a remote working from home veteran of more than 10 years.
When my daughter started school, I was determined that she wasn't going to be a latch-key kid like I was.
So I was determined to be able to work from home, no matter what I had to do.
And it worked out perfectly. Since then, I've been there to pick up my daughter every day from school and have been there with her at home, helping with homework, and doing "dad" stuff ever since.
I was able to negotiate with employers and build a business that suited what I was trying to do because nothing is more important to me than my family.
So it should come as no surprise that when it comes to working life from a home office, you can bet that I've been there and done that.
I've spent years figuring out what works and what doesn't when it comes to working from home - dealing with the unique challenges that come with working from home, figuring out how to get things done, and figuring out how to build out the best possible office space I can (because my daughter shares office space with me).
The things I cover here in Home Office Hacks covers everything from the types of desks and chairs that are the best and most comfortable, to the types of technology, and even getting the atmosphere right with the best decorations you need to be your best when it comes to working from home.
I've experimented with just about everything you can think of when it comes to getting the most out of my home office, how to work from home without going crazy, and found solutions to the numerous challenges that those of us who work from home run into in this life.
My goal is to pass on tips and advice that I have picked up over the years of working from home and offer it to you in the form of a helpful, informative, and (hopefully) entertaining website dedicated to people who face the opportunities and challenges that come with the WFH life.
